MILLIONS SPEAKERS NEED IMPROVE PRONUNCIATION.

MILLIONS NEED TO IMPROVE PRONUNCIATION

English is spoken and studied worldwide. But many having studied English for years yet they are unable to speak it. A large majority, even native speakers speak so badly  that it is difficult, sometimes impossible, to understand them.

I met at a Conference of the EU in Amsterdam an Irish Greenpeace activist. She said:

-The Meetings are chaotic. They speak English so badly that they do not communicate. I advocate Esperanto as it is impossible to learn English.

-Yes, it is possible to learn English, if taught well - I said convinced.

Nouns, verbs, and adverbs can express basic needs, provided they are well pronounced. But grammar is necessary to communicate at a higher level.

The oral aspect of English is difficult: sounds, rhythmic accent, and intonation. Difficulty enhanced by various spellings of the same sound.

Many teachers, obsessed with a simple, almost nonexistent grammar, neglect the oral aspect, paramount because grammatical rules derive from it.

If English changes in contact with so many languages, it can eventually develop into many vernaculars and cease to be the lingua franca.

I believe in the value of communication. It was my desire to be useful why I created two blogs to improve pronunciation, one for Spanish speakers and another for speakers of other languages.
