UNDERSTAND SPOKEN ENGLISH
61 Common
English words, grammar words, have
strong / weak forms.
The weak
forms are used most often.
Strong forms at
the beginning and end of a sentence or word group are
frequently used, but not always. When pronounced in isolation or for emphasis.
Teachers tend to teach strong forms; this is one of
the reasons why many people do not understand spoken English.
Foreigners often do not understand native speakers
connected speech because they do not hear the strong forms they have been
taught.
WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND SPOKEN ENGLISH?
Correct Pronunciation of isolated words is an asset, but it is not enough. The pronunciation of many grammar words ( 61 ) varies in the spoken language.
It is a common experience; many people after studying English for years, understand nothing or very little in conversation with native speakers.
The main reason is the unexpected changes that occur in connected speech.
That is why we undertake to deal with these changes. We shall do it gradually and interchange it with other items.

CONSONANTS AUDIO
I recommend the following link to produce and the
English sounds:
I have been
using a simplified phonetic code as I am aware phonetics puts people off, even
teachers, so I reduced them to a minimum acceptable and that practically works.
I have
already pointed out there is a slight difference between them:

MILLIONS SPEAKERS NEED IMPROVE PRONUNCIATION.
MILLIONS NEED TO IMPROVE PRONUNCIATION
English is spoken and studied worldwide. But many having studied English for years yet they are unable to speak it. A large majority, even native speakers speak so badly that it is difficult, sometimes impossible, to understand them.
I met at a Conference of the EU in Amsterdam an Irish Greenpeace activist. She said:
-The Meetings are chaotic. They speak English so badly that they do not communicate. I advocate Esperanto as it is impossible to learn English.
-Yes, it is possible to learn English, if taught well - I said convinced.
Nouns, verbs, and adverbs can express basic needs, provided they are well pronounced. But grammar is necessary to communicate at a higher level.
The oral aspect of English is difficult: sounds, rhythmic accent, and intonation. Difficulty enhanced by various spellings of the same sound.
Many teachers, obsessed with a simple, almost nonexistent grammar, neglect the oral aspect, paramount because grammatical rules derive from it.
If English changes in contact with so many languages, it can eventually develop into many vernaculars and cease to be the lingua franca.
I believe in the value of communication. It was my desire to be useful why I created two blogs to improve pronunciation, one for Spanish speakers and another for speakers of other languages.
